I am a Kinesiology Practitioner living in Stokenham near Kingsbridge, South Hams with a private treatment room in my home. Within Functional Kinesiology I look at nutrition and food intolerances as a starting point. I then use muscle testing to decipher symptoms and imbalances in the body. I use a combination of cutting edge science and traditional Kinesiology techniques such as lymphatic massage, cardiovascular holding points, energy reflexes, structural and emotional techniques. Within this process I may recommend supplements to help you on a pathway to health.
My name is Sarah Summons and I originally started my career as a Beauty Therapist which I loved. This career enabled me to travel, working on cruise ships and living in Abu Dhabi. Returning to the UK, I qualified as a lecturer and lectured at The London College of Fashion. During this time I met my husband and we settled in Reigate, Surrey where I set up a chain of Beauty Salons and started a family.
I came across Kinesiology when a family member was ill. I found it fascinating. As a Beauty Therapist I never really asked why a client had headaches, why did they always have the same pain in their shoulder or why was their skin the way it was?
Kinesiology answered those questions. I found this intriguing and decided to re-train over a period of 4 years.
Devon was where our heart was, so we moved down in 2022 after our twins went to University. We haven’t looked back.

The PFC food strategy
The standard western diet is rich in carbohydrate and poor in protein and fats. As such, blood sugars are constantly spiking and dropping during the day. To ensure our blood sugar hormones stay balanced, every meal and snack should contain each macronutrient of Protein, Fat and Carbohydrate.
Alongside making sure you have the correct dietary plan, I carry out food testing to look for food intolerances.
When not eating the correct nutrition we see adverse symptoms : weight gain/loss, aches, pain, allergies, anxiety, addictions, depression, fatigue, frequent infections the list is immense.
This is where the PFC food strategy can help.
In Functional Kinesiology we work on balancing the triangle of hormonal health. Blood sugar hormones, stress hormones and sex hormones. We tend to think only of our sex hormones but hormones are our slow messengers of pretty much everything that happens in our body. Feeling hungry? Feeling full? Feeling stressed? Feeling sexy? Feeling sick? Want to hold onto a baby? All hormones.
We are like a three legged stool. If one leg is wobbly we can manage, but two and we fall over.
If you imagine the nerves from your brain running down your spine and out through your vertebrae they then splay across the body. As they do this, they run across an organ and muscle. For instance the muscles in the neck are linked to the stomach. The lower back muscles to the spleen, so blood sugars. I will test muscle groups across the body to see if they indicate an imbalance and then use techniques to create balance. This methodology was developed by the Chiropractor George Goodheart.
Flower remedies were developed by Dr Bach a Physician and Homeopath. He realised that while working in his garden, trees, plants and flowers created a certain emotional response. He went on to develop 38 different essences each relating to a specific emotion. Elm for feeling overwhelmed and Olive for exhaustion for example. His belief was that emotional well-being was imperative to good health.
If needed I will find a combination of essences specific to your needs.
Mental health is a growing problem in today‘s society. It manifests itself in many distressing symptoms such as anxiety, stress, overwhelm, OCD, depression, fatigue, pain, insomnia, psoriasis, migraines.
By focusing on nutrition, food intolerances, supplementation, Bach remedies, emotional and structural techniques I can help to create balance to improve quality of life.
Difficulties throughout women’s lives with periods, pregnancy and menopause are becoming more prevalent. Dietry insufficiencies, stress, toxic overload and digestive dysfunction are the main culprits. Addressing these can have a very positive effect on the debilitating symptoms that can present themselves. Pain, heavy periods, hot flushes, memory loss, fatigue, acne, insomnia, infertility, thyroid instability and more.
The immune system is a complex integrated collection of cells and chemicals that protect us against disease. Symptoms that reveal themselves like covid, flu, inflamed adenoids, urinary tract infection, thrush, parasites and autoimmunity show that there is an imbalance in the system.
For centuries western medicine has waged a war on pathogens but actually recent scientific discovery shows the human microbiome which is made up of millions of bacteria, viruses, funghi and parasites are central to our health.
The triangle of hormonal health is key to health in men. Balancing blood sugar hormones is the first aspect, checking for food intolerances and advice on correct nutrition. The second corner on the triangle is stress hormones and the third is sex hormones. If any of these are imbalanced they can show themselves in many symptoms : mental health, sleep problems, indigestion, weight gain/loss, addictions, allergies, OCD, flabby muscles, moobs, pain, fatigue, continual ill health to name a few.
Andropause is the decline of testosterone which starts around age 35/40. Symptoms can be low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, hair loss, memory loss, mood changes, loss of muscle mass. With the right nutrition, supplementation and a regular balance these symptoms can be alleviated.
Healthy digestion is vital to good health. A groundbreaking 10 year scientific study showed the importance of the microbiome and its impact on the body. Unfortunately many factors can upset this very sensitive environment such as poor nutrition, high stress, frequent medication and pesticides. Indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome have become commonplace for many. For balance it is imperative to look at nutrition and structural corrections such as the ileocecal valve and supplementation to help the microbiome.
There is much concern about the welfare of our children in the society we live in.
Unfortunately many negative symptoms manifest themselves: anxiety, difficulty sleeping, poor concentration, hyperactivity, exhaustion, lack of co-ordination, low immunity and skin conditions, the list is huge.
It seems obvious but I know it is not always easy to carry out. But what our children eat has a massive impact on their health. What if I was to say in every meal and snack if you were to put some protein, good fats and carbohydrate you would make a huge difference! This is the PFC food strategy which balances blood sugars and will help with a lot of those debilitating symptoms.
If there needs to be more work done then we delve into food intolerances and supplements as required.
Functional Kinesiology offers a plethora of effective, simple techniques such as emotional stress release and ‘brain gym’. These can support young adults and children in their daily life to alleviate those debilitating symptoms.
Within Functional Kinesiology there are lots of techniques that can help.

"I met Sarah when I was suffering from two primary cancers, and was suffering extremely badly.
Sarah treated me extensively and thoroughly, tackling every key aspect of my health. I had an open mind about the treatment, which I had never had before.
After a few sessions, which included the identification of deficiencies in my body and targeted treatments, I was feeling very well.
I was quite upset when Sarah moved away from my area, but I look forward to commencing remote sessions and coming under Sarah's wing again.
As a person, Sarah is highly professional and caring. I would thoroughly recommend her services both for those suffering from specific medical conditions and for those who are otherwise healthy, but who value their continued well-being."

I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough; when I first started to see Sarah, I was struggling with a few issues and having tried many things which had failed, I was immediately impressed by Sarah’s knowledge, passion and commitment. She really took time to get to know me, was inquisitive but not intrusive, informative but not overbearing and I felt I was completely in trustworthy and safe hands, with the reassurance that she could help me. She thoroughly explained every exercise she undertook with me and made sure I understood the whole process. She had a gentle but firm way of working and I always left with “homework” to do, which was incredibly useful. She also introduced me to the PFC dietary plan, which completely revolutionised my way of thinking about eating and educated me about the different food groups and nutrition. Overall, Sarah provided a complete package of emotional, physical and mental support which I was very grateful for, so thankyou Sarah!
I would highly recommend Sarah . She has a calm and methodical approach and with her excellent techniques manages to get to the root of any issue .
Through her work on me we discovered that physical symptoms ( ie ankle pain ) were manifested from an emotional root .
Sarah provides techniques and tips to continue your therapy and I would say she has " The Magic Touch '
If you have booked an appointment and cannot make it please can you give me 48 hours notice. If notice is not given then I will ask for a deposit on all ongoing appointments.
